What is Legacy Lands?

As you may have guessed, Lands is a Legacy deck based around lands. Coming on to the scene around 2005 with the printing of Life from the Loam, the deck focuses on using that card to recycle lands with valuable effects, such as Wasteland, Maze of Ith, or Thespian’s Stage. It sits in the enviable intersection between combo and control – the deck can kill on turn two with the Stage-Depths combo, but can also use Life from the Loam as a repeatable ‘draw’ spell to bury opponents in card advantage. But perhaps Lands’ greatest strength is that it plays powerfully on an axis that most Legacy decks only dabble in: mana denial. Between Loam, Wasteland, and Rishadan Port, the deck can constrict opponent’s mana to a degree that Delver and Taxes can only dream of. Combine all these with acceleration through Mox Diamond and Exploration, repeatable removal in Punishing Fire, and strong selection tools with Crop Rotation and Gamble, and you have one of the most interesting, flexible, and powerful decks in Legacy.

This website is devoted to Legacy Lands, and we aim to collect resources on lists, playing the deck, and news from around the web. Enjoy!
